About the Department

Thank you for considering a membership with Abingdon Fire Company, proudly serving Abingdon and surrounding communities since 1925. Our members are our greatest resource and we look forward to you joining our ranks. We are proud to be professionally-trained volunteers, delivering life saving and property preservation services to our community.

AFC hosts several community events throughout the year, including: bingo, dinners, and breakfasts.

Being a volunteer with a Harford County Fire/EMS department brings with it many benefits including a healthy state income tax deduction, a LOSAP (Length of Service Award Program) with retirement benefits, scholarship opportunities, professional development and leadership training and much more.

AFC also offers:

  • Charlie Riley Community Service Scholarship Foundation” – Applications open to members and immediate family members. The Foundation was formed to help fire and ambulance personnel wanting to expand their knowledge through education. By meeting qualified volunteer standards and performing 40 hours per month of duty time, the student is eligible to receive up to $3,000 per school year.
